Texas Roadhouse Cycling Shocks in Chicago!

Louisville, KY (USA), Monday July 28th, 2008 - It what is being hailed as the biggest win of the year so far for the Texas Roadhouse Team; Adam Bergman knocked off the Nation’s top Pros to win the inaugural Chicago Criterium held in Grant Park between the beautiful shore of Lake Michigan and the picturesque city skyline.

Just before the gun-shot that launched the first ever Chicago Criterium sounded, all eyes were focused on some of the world’s best Pro teams. Riders were present from Astana, Toyota-United, Healthnet, Bissell, TIME, Rock Racing, and Kelly Benefits. Despite the Crit being held during a HOT day in the windy city, the all the big-name stars were out. Riders like Chris Horner, Dominique Rollin, Fred Rodriguez, Ivan Dominguez, Frank Pipp, Shawn Milne and more lined up to race it out for the glory of being the first ever winner.

What most teams and fans did not anticipate was the on-form line-up that Elite Amateur Team Texas Roadhouse Cycling brought to the race course. The Chicago Crit squad for Texas Roadhouse was made up of 2007 National Elite Road Champion Paul Martin, Adam Bergman, Chad Burdzilauskas, Kirk Albers, Kevin Attkisson and John Puffer.

After an explosion of attacks, the race settled down and a group of 20 riders broke free. In that break was Texas Roadhouse members Paul Martin and Adam Bergman. Bergman commented on the breakaway, “Things rolled along until the last 15 laps when the attacks started to happen. Paul and I covered them very well.” Bergman continued, “In the end I was away with 4 other guys... from there I was able to get away on the last lap and win solo.” When asked about how this victory stacks up in his career Adam was quick to say, “It means a lot, it was a big crowd, downtown Chicago, big prize list, and it was definitely one of the top career wins for sure.” When it was all said and done, Adam, the team player, gave thanks to his teammates, “It’s all about the team, I’ve got to thank the team, and without them the win would not have been possible.”

Next up for the Texas Roadhouse Cycling Team will be the Presbyterian Hospital Invitational Criterium in Charlotte, NC on Saturday August 2nd. We hope to see you there.
