Texas Roadhouse Cycling Prepares for Quad Cities
Louisville, KY (USA), Wednesday May 14th, 2008 - Last weekend the Texas Roadhouse Cycling Team continued its winning ways in preparation for the Quad Cities Criterium races beginning May 24 in and around Quad Cities Iowa.
The bulk of the riders were in Indianapolis, IN for the Eagle Creek Park Criterium event held on the same course as the 1986 National Sports Festival Road Race won by legend Davis Phinney. Dicing it up with riders from the Bissell Pro Team and others were the Texas Roadhouse Cycling men of Chad Burdzilauskas, John Grant, Kevin Attkisson, Skiles Keith, Curtis Tolson and John Puffer. TRH rider Chad B. and a Bissell pro rider escaped early in the race and were quickly on their way to lapping the field. Once the gap was crossed, the two made contact with the back of the field where the remainder of the Roadhouse team took control of the race. With three laps to go the Roadhouse Team covered all attacks setting the stage for a screaming lead-out that ultimately launched Chad Burdzilauskas for the win. John Puffer held on to win the field sprint and John Grant took third from a small group that slipped away late in the race.
2007 National Elite Road Champion Paul Martin teamed up with Kirk Albers in Munroe Falls, Ohio on Saturday. With only Kirk and Paul representing Texas Roadhouse Cycling the work was stout. Over 50 riders were in attendance with several teams made up of five and six men. After covering many attacks the Texas Roadhouse boys on their Fuji bikes managed to put Kirk on the top spot of the podium with Paul right next to him in second. A fast local race is good preparation for Quad Cities as the 25 mile rolling circuit race averaged just over 27 mph.
Meanwhile at the Highland Rim Classic in McMinnville TN, lone ranger Dirk Pohlmann notched a win in the Time Trial stage of the Omnium. And with a couple more top 10 finishes in the 110 mile Road Race and Sunday’s Crit Pohlmann wrapped up his weekend 5th overall.
The Texas Roadhouse Cycling Team is excited about the debut of former Pro Adam Bergman. Adam has been finishing a semester at college and will make his first appearance with the Texas Roadhouse Cycling squad in Quad Cities in less than two weeks time.
Rob Bush has been in Europe racing with the US National Junior Team for the past couple weeks. Rob has been competing at the Course de la Paix Junior / Junior Peace Race, Cze (2.Ncup). Gaining valuable experience on the international scene Rob is excited to be returning to the States with his regular team competing at Quad Cities.
The Roster for the Texas Roadhouse Cycling Team at Quad Cities will be:
Kirk Albers, Kevin Attkisson, Adam Bergman, Chad Burdzilauskas, Rob Bush, John Grant, Skiles Keith, Paul Martin and John Puffer.
TRHC will be hosting an event with the Davenport, IA Texas Roadhouse restaurant on Sunday May 25th. More information about that event will be coming out soon. |
